Stillness in Time: The Cinema of Yasujirō Ozu

Discover five essential films by Yasujirō Ozu, the Japanese master of quiet, deeply human storytelling.

Join us for a retrospective dedicated to Yasujirō Ozu, one of cinema’s most influential filmmakers, whose work finds extraordinary depth in the details of everyday life. Marked by a distinctive visual language and a deep sensitivity to family dynamics, his work reflects on generational change, tradition, and the passage of time in postwar Japan.

From 6 – 10 May at MIA Auditorium, this programme brings together five celebrated works: ‘Late Spring’, ‘The Flavor of Green Tea Over Rice’, ‘Tokyo Story’, ‘Tokyo Twilight’ and ‘Good Morning’. The series offers a meditative journey through moments both ordinary and deeply affecting. Through stillness and subtle passages of time, Ozu reveals the tensions and enduring bonds that shape our lives.

Reserve your tickets now and experience the artistry of Ozu on the big screen.
