Yasujiro Ozu
Yasujirō Ozu was born in Tokyo’s Fukagawa district on 12 December 1903. He joined Shochiku Kamata Studios in 1923 as an assistant photographer before moving into the directing department and making his directorial debut in 1927 with ‘The Sword of Penitence’.
