While guarding his aunt’s home in rural Lebanon, Anis pretends to be a thief to survive a break-in, only to discover the intruders are corrupt law enforcement officials.
Set in a remote Lebanese village, Canary in a Coal Mine follows Anis, who is left to guard his aunt’s house for the night. When thieves break in, Anis pretends to be one of them to survive. This darkly comedic tale offers a sharp commentary on the pervasive corruption in Lebanon and the absurd roles that citizens often play within it.
