Joëlle Touma, a Lebanese screenwriter based in Paris, draws on her extensive experience as a former journalist, actor and television host in Beirut to craft award-winning narratives rich with empathy and authenticity.

Joëlle Touma, a Lebanese screenwriter based in Paris, draws on her extensive experience as a former journalist, actor and television host in Beirut to craft award-winning narratives rich with empathy and authenticity.

Her credits include the Oscar-nominated feature ‘The Insult’, the acclaimed spy series ‘The Bureau’ for Canal+, as well as Ziad Doueiri’s films ‘The Attack’ and ‘Lila Says’, plus Rachid Bouchareb’s ‘Just Like a Woman’. She teamed with Greg Barker to write the espionage thriller ‘Ghosts of Beirut’ for Showtime/Paramount+, a limited series about the CIA’s long entanglement with Hezbollah. Joëlle is currently writing a feature film, ‘La Grâce’, to be directed by Sarah Marx.
