‘Ebb & Flow’ is a coming-of-age short film set in Beirut, Lebanon, in the early 2000s. It is the story of Loulwa, a 14-year-old who has been dreaming of her first embrace with her school crush Sharif. With a push from her daring best friend Jana, Loulwa lies to her parents about her after-school activities and plans for the perfect date with him at the Beirut waterfront. Just when she’s finally about to have her dream come true, a loud bomb explodes nearby. Loulwa and Jana are forced to leave the date immediately and find their way home safely through the frantic dysfunctional war-like streets of post-explosion Beirut, experiencing all that the city throws at them—without unveiling their lie to their parents.
