On a camping trip with Father Bear, Little Bear makes a new friend: Cub, a wild bear who was separated from his parents in a storm. With his friends Duck, Owl, Cat and Hen, Little Bear sets out to find Cub’s family, braving a waterfall, a long night in the woods and a prowling mountain lion along the way. A gentle adventure about friendship and finding your way home, from the beloved books by Else Holmelund Minarik and Maurice Sendak.
Little Bear and Father Bear have gone camping. By the river, Little Bear meets Cub, a young wild bear who saves him from Trouble, the mountain lion who stalks the forest. Cub comes home with them, sleeps under the bed because it feels like his cave, and soon tells his new friends the truth: a storm separated him from his mother and father, and he has been on his own ever since. So Little Bear gathers Duck, Owl, Cat and Hen, and together they set out to bring Cub’s family back together, posting signs through the woods and asking everyone they meet.
The search does not go to plan. The signs vanish, a dam breaks, and Little Bear and Cub are swept over a waterfall and lost in the forest at night, with Trouble never far behind. But the woods are full of friends too, from Moose to the playful fox twins Poppy and Pete, and help comes from an unexpected direction. Adapted from the classic picture books by Else Holmelund Minarik and Maurice Sendak, who also produced the film, ‘The Little Bear Movie’ keeps all the quiet warmth of the originals, with songs by Shawn Colvin and a story about kindness, courage and the comfort of home.
