'The Last Days with Eliane' is a look at my maternal grandmother—mother of six children, French, Christian from Tunis—who died of Alzheimer's disease more than a year ago. Having found herself unable to care for her alone, and having refused to place her in an institution, my aunt, Fouzie, accepted my family's proposal to move in with my grandmother, Eliane, in 2014. During her last days, Eliane was no longer communicating, as the disease was at a very advanced stage. One day, Fouzie gave me a box full of notebooks with pages completely blackened by long writings. These notebooks belonged to Eliane. Through her notebooks, I discover today another image of my grandmother, full of sorrow, but also of love. I wonder about her true identity, in the hope of understanding mine. With all these people around me, all these generations, the film cannot help but celebrate life.
