Casablanca, Morocco. Hassan, a 61-year-old former heroin addict seeking redemption, is ready to do whatever it takes to leave his past behind, even if it means stealing the dowry for his only son’s wedding.
Casablanca, Morocco, in the 2020s. Hassan, 61, a former heroin addict, has just been released from prison. He is trying to make peace with himself, earn his family’s forgiveness and stop letting them down. His only son, Mansour, is preparing for his engagement and wants to give his father a second chance. Hassan clings to a small job and sticks to his methadone treatment, but the past returns when dealers demand repayment of an old debt. Hassan has one week to pay them back, or they will go after his son.
Shaken, Hassan turns to those around him for help, but no one responds. The money saved for Mansour’s dowry becomes a temptation. Before giving in, Hassan accepts one last deal: to deliver a package of drugs for the dealers. But the delivery goes wrong. Hassan runs, saved by a young junkie from his neighbourhood. Hidden in a squat, he faces temptation again but resists. He returns home, where his wife confronts him and asks him to personally give their son the dowry envelope. The wedding is in full swing. Mansour is happy. Hassan asks for forgiveness. A fragile truce. Then, during the celebration, Hassan steps outside for a cigarette. The dealers find him, beat him and rob him, leaving him dying on the ground.
