Made in Mexico - Short Films Programme
Two young shepherds talk about their hopes and dreams while tending their flock in the forest below a great telescope, in this short documentary spoken entirely in Nahuatl.
In a forest at the foot of the Alfonso Serrano Large Millimetre Telescope, on a dormant volcano in central Mexico, two young shepherds, Armando and Braulio, talk about their dreams while tending their flock. Braulio dreamed he was a snow rose. Armando wishes he could dream his way inside the telescope. Spoken entirely in Nahuatl, José Ángel Tomasis Briseño’s short documentary is a small, wondering essay on how a culture looks at the sky, and how the sky looks back.
