In Lebanon, Mireille tells young Johnny he is auditioning for a film. But the people waiting for them are not casting directors, and the role on offer is hers.
Mireille promises Johnny the big screen, dragging him to an audition whose rules only she truly knows. He wants an action role; she coaches him to play a polite boy who loves his mother. Waiting for them is a broker and a Finnish couple with questions about family illnesses, and a deal worth far more than a hairdresser earns in Lebanon. As the price goes up, Mireille must decide how much of herself she is prepared to sell.
