Made in Qatar Shorts Competition<br /> <br /> A showcase of ten short films created in Qatar, celebrating local talent through diverse stories and bold creative voices as part of the Made in Qatar Competition. <br /> <br /> Dedicated to films by Qatari and Qatar-based filmmakers, this selection reflects the country’s growing artistic identity and the shared experiences of its dynamic, multicultural community.
In a futuristic city warped by social media - and following a brutal attack on his grandfather - AQIQ learns he’s the first in a new generation of ancient heroes known as THE PROTECTORS.
In the near-future, a sinister group known as THE TROLLS menace the Gulf city of JUNA in a wave of violent attacks and criminal acts. Enter AQIQ (30) a successful architect and philanthropist, whose Grandfather ATIQ (70) hides a secret identity as one of THE PROTECTORS: an ancient order that has protected the region from evil through the ages. Each Protector wields a precious cosmic gemstone that endows the bearer with immense powers. And now: Aqiq has been chosen to lead the next generation of Protectors in a renewed battle between the forces of Light and Darkness.

About the Director

Kummam Al-Maadeed
Kummam Al-Maadeed is a Qatari writer and filmmaker bridging literature and cinema. She has authored three novels, a comic and a short-story collection; ‘Wielding Magic’ won Gold at the 2023 Moonbeam Award (YA Fantasy/Sci-Fi) and was a finalist for the American Fiction Award (YA). Two short screenplays were selected for Doha Film Institute’s Qumra, marking her debut in scriptwriting and directing.
Mohammed A. Al-Suwaidi
Mohammad Al-Suwaidi is a distinguished Qatari filmmaker and animation specialist with over twelve years of industry experience. A graduate of Purdue University with a degree in Electronics Engineering and an MBA, he seamlessly merges technical precision with creative storytelling. Al-Suwaidi has made significant contributions to Arab animation through his work as character animator on the acclaime
