Made in Qatar - Short Films Programme
As a rare illness erases his face, Bader barricades himself in his room, finding companionship only with a beetle, while his mother crafts hyper-realistic masks to draw him back.
Bader, a young man grappling with a rare illness that erases his facial features, retreats from the world when treatments fail. To help him hold on to a normal life, his mother crafts hyper-realistic masks, but he feels ever more alienated and barricades himself in his room. As the outside world fades, his surroundings begin their own eerie transformation, and a beetle becomes the sole witness to his journey inwards, and to the unsettling peace he finds there.
