After nearly a decade away, a return to Yemen unfolds through family archives, altered landscapes and fragmented memories, asking what remains of home when the place you remember has changed.
A fragmented, poetic short film about belonging and the return to a place reshaped by conflict. Shot between Yemen and the Netherlands, the film contemplates what happens when we disturb the memories we left behind. Using archival photographs, everyday footage and intimate voice recordings, it becomes a quiet meditation on grief, absence and the contradictions of remembering. Through a deeply personal lens, Thana Faroq’s debut reflects on the dislocation of identity caused by geographical and emotional separation, and on the complexities of returning home.
