A poetic essay shot on 16mm film that celebrates Uzbek craftspeople and silk production of today, tracing resilience, memory, and ancestral knowledge preserved in the living traditions of the Fergana Valley, one of Central Asia’s most culturally rich and densely layered regions.
A poetic yet critical meditation on silk weaving in the Fergana Valley of Uzbekistan. Through observation, conversations with silk masters and researchers, and the use of archival materials, this documentary is conceived as a tribute to the people of silk. Beyond capturing the beauty of Central Asian life and landscapes, the film positions craft as a form of resistance to cultural homogenisation and forced modernisation.
