Hebron during the Second Intifada, where fear, siege and death are ordinary. Childhood reminiscence surfaces and meets the memory of a city, asking what is kept and what is lost.
During the Second Intifada in occupied Palestine, fear, siege and death define the daily reality of Hebron. Moments from the past are revived through childhood reminiscence, intersecting with the memory of a whole city. Shayma’ Awawdeh builds the film from archive and recollection, letting the two run together until the join stops showing. Memory here is neither personal nor collective but both at once, and the question the film leaves open is what we keep and what do we let go of?
