Interwoven stories of ordinary people whose lives are upended when their city comes under siege, forcing each of them to confront impossible choices as the blockade reshapes their values and pushes human behaviour to its limits.
'Chronicles From The Siege’ follows several connected stories of ordinary people whose lives are disrupted by a blockade. Arafat is pushed to the edge by hunger, isolation and lack of medicine as he searches for anything to stay alive. A group of young men move through holes in the walls to avoid sniper fire and find fuel for the freezing cold; their search leads to Arafat’s old movie-rental studio, where an unexpected incident tests their friendship. Walid pursues a small pleasure that, under siege, becomes more valuable than anything else, showing how material things change meaning when life is out of balance. Fares, helped by his friends, tries to create an intimate moment with Huda despite war and social restrictions, while Farah and her husband Saleh struggle to save her life and their unborn child as a doctor faces a critical decision. Shifting between drama, tension and dark comedy, the film explores how siege reshapes people—their needs, their values and their sense of what matters—when the simplest things become precious. Inspired by the director’s experience during the siege of Yarmouk, it reflects the wider Palestinian experience of repeated sieges from the Nakba until today.
