Bader Short Film Programme II
Young adults have completed the circle of youth and are now taking their own steps on the path of life. Their opinions resonate more strongly and this appealing programme exposes them to cinema as a contemporary art form.
A woman is terrorised by her own imagination when she takes up residence in a brand-new apartment complex. But why does this lead to a clash with some refugees living in a tent city nearby?
When the very first tenant of a brand-new apartment complex takes up residence, she is soon spooked by the buildings and their unfamiliar sounds – understandably so, since the atmosphere of emptiness is uncomfortably reminiscent of a creepy horror film. Nevertheless, the terror she feels is entirely a product of her imagination. Why, then, does this lead to a clash with refugees being housed by the United Nations in a tent city nearby? Within the context of the migrant crisis currently facing Europe, ‘A New Home’ takes a critical look at the social catastrophes that can arise from unfounded paranoia.
