A poetic essay exploring the artistry and resilience of Uzbek craftswomen, weaving silk by hand while preserving history, memory, and meaning in the heart of the Fergana Valley.
A poetic yet detailed look into the moments of manual silk weaving performed by craftswomen of the Fergana Valley in Uzbekistan. Meandering between observational documentary, interviews with female protagonists and investigation into the archives of a silk factory, this film sings a hymn to the women of silk—the ones who carry on its history so gracefully, who recognise the magic of this material, and who value the hardships of this labour as lessons they could learn, not obstacles to avoid.
