Fisherman Sergei escapes from everyday life to the uninhabited shores of Onega to meet with the ghost of his deceased wife. There he reflects on his life and loss, taking some comfort in his beautifully Arcadian but solitary surroundings. Through his musings, we see his unguarded heartache as he is haunted by his past in this affecting film about love, grief and the painfully difficult acceptance of death.
