After enduring years of abuse, a resilient woman in her 50s, a survivor of three cancers, embarks on a transformative journey where she discovers how her health problems are linked to her past traumas.
This short documentary follows Chimene, a woman in her late 50s. During the war, she married. From that point on, her life became smaller. Over time, she stopped working, stopped painting, and stopped moving freely. She lived in an environment that offered little support and carried forms of abuse that were rarely acknowledged or addressed. Ten years into her marriage, Chimene was diagnosed with cancer of the womb. Treatment saved her life, but the period that followed left her increasingly isolated and confined within her home. In the years that came next, she faced cancer twice more first in her breast, then in her thyroid and neck. The film stays close to Chimene as she lives with the consequences of these years, and asks a simple question: when a life has been shaped by marriage, illness, and silence, what does it take to keep going?
