New tee-girl Isabel feels drawn to Dr Palanca, president of the country club where she works. As she pieces together the violence beneath its pristine surface, she realises her innocent infatuation is rooted in a sinister shared history.
The Alabang Country Club is a 74-hectare compound with enough facilities to keep the crème de la crème of Philippine society distracted from, and unaffected by, the country’s socio-political problems. Among these facilities is the driving range where Isabel (17) works as a tee-girl. Despite being new to the job, Isabel often finds herself escaping the driving range and exploring the lush greenery of the surrounding golf course, as it reminds her of the hometown she left behind. At the golf course, Isabel encounters Dr Palanca (60), the country club president. Isabel slowly develops an infatuation for him and is eventually given an opportunity to meet him when she is tasked with returning a golf iron that he has left behind. Isabel explores the various alcoves of the country club’s facilities, looking for Dr Palanca, but never seems to find him. Instead, she finds herself discovering a clearer, more disenchanting portrait of the Country Club and Dr Palanca.
