International Short Films Programme 1: Outer Edges
After years in an Iranian prison, Arman travels to the Netherlands to meet his six-year-old son for the first time. They share no language at all.
Arman, who spent years in prison in Iran, travels to the Netherlands to finally meet his six-year-old son. While his wife heads off to work, father and child are left together in a park, facing each other like strangers without a shared language. Slowly, the silence between them gives way to gestures, play and tentative steps towards a fragile bond. Ali Asgari, who also plays the father, lets glances and long takes carry what words cannot.
