Friends Ahmed and Ali reunite to confront their haunting memories of Iraq's sectarian violence. Through Ahmed’s lens and Ali’s sketches, they piece together their experiences, creating a powerful excavation of a harrowing past.
"Ahmed feels an undeniable urge to revisit a memory he has tried to suppress for seventeen long years—the haunting recollection of being twelve years old and witnessing the abduction and murder of his friend’s father, taken in a BMW and driven into the nearby orchards, during Iraq’s sectarian violence.
In 'The Sixth Story', Ahmed retraces these haunting events with the help of his friend Ali, who turns into a forensic artist, sketching scenes from Ahmed’s fragmented memories to capture the features of the perpetrators. Ali’s paintings are dominated by a head embedded within the orchards where the atrocities unfolded. The painting transforms into a stage where real-life events are carefully played out, bearing witness to the weight of their shared past.
