Ajyal Short Films Programme 2: Beginnings
Ajyal Short Film Competition

In a Parisian restaurant, two women from Kerala find memories resurfacing through flavours and sounds, revealing bittersweet emotions of uprooting, family ties, and emancipation.
One evening in Paris, Alia and Neena, two young women from Kerala, unexpectedly cross paths in an Indian restaurant. The shared scents, tastes, and language awaken memories of exile, family bonds, and cultural conflict. While their reasons for leaving India differ, both grapple with nostalgia, loss, and self-discovery. Through evocative animation and delicate humour, the film explores displacement and resilience, capturing how food, memory, and identity intertwine in the migrant experience.
