A grief-stricken video editor secretly sabotaging state TV discovers an underground Assassin order that hails him as its Chosen One, forcing him into a deadly uprising to save his condemned brother.
Mustafa, a 28-year-old video editor at the Republic of Thebes’ national broadcaster, lives under an oppressive regime scarred by a failed revolution that claimed lives and filled prisons with the accused. Once hopeful, he lost his wife Mariam during the unrest and now edits state propaganda while secretly hacking broadcasts to expose government lies. His brother Mohsen, accused of terrorism for ties to the banned Al-Ummah Party, awaits a death sentence, deepening Mustafa’s despair.
When his district is demolished, Mustafa relocates to a house rumoured to be haunted. Strange noises from the basement lead him to a hidden chamber behind a wall. Inside, he finds a dagger and a ring marked with the name Hassan al-Sabbah, and a door labelled ‘The Gate of Resurrection’. Following a tunnel, he reaches the secret temple of the Assassins, a clandestine group that robs banks to aid the poor. They knock him unconscious and reveal a prophecy: whoever uncovers the dagger and ring is the ‘Chosen One’, destined to lead their revolt against President Shaykh al-Mulk. Mustafa refuses—until Mohsen is sentenced to death. Desperate, he turns to the Assassins, who engineer a daring prison break. He becomes their reluctant leader in a campaign of assassinations.
