Raja Amari, born in Tunis, Tunisia, graduated from La Fémis, the French school for cinematic studies.

Her film 'Satin Rouge' (2002) premiered at Berlinale, earning acclaim and numerous awards and 'Buried Secrets' (2009) was selected at the Venice Film Festival and MoMA. In 2014, she directed 'Tunisian Spring' for Arte Television, followed by 'Foreign Body', premiering at TIFF and Berlinale in 2016. Her 2020 film, 'She Had a Dream', premiered at IDFA and garnered selections at multiple festivals. Amari was a jury member at festivals like Venice and Locarno International Film Festival. She was appointed president of the Foundation Gan for Cinema in 2020. She serves as a cinema teacher and juror at La Fémis, and is a member of the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences (Oscars).
